Josh was born and raised in Greenville, South Carolina. After completing his undergraduate degree from USC-Spartanburg in 1997, Josh sensed a call to full time gospel ministry. He earned his masters degree from Greenville Seminary in 2001 and began working as the Reformed University Fellowship Campus Minister at Delta State University. In 2008 he and his family moved to Baton Rouge for him to serve as the RUF pastor at LSU. Josh ministered as an Assistant Pastor at South Baton Rouge Presbyterian Church from 2014-2018.

On a more personal note, Josh and his wife Sara Parks were married in 1999. They have two college-aged children, Ben and Meg. Josh enjoys sports, reading, the outdoors, and spending time with people. He is passionate about sharing the love of Jesus Christ with those inside and outside the church.
